Holly-Hunter

Holly Hunter is a well-known American actor, producer, and director. She has been praised for her roles in films like Broadcast News The Firm The Piano The Incredibles and The Incredibles. Her work has been recognized with numerous awards, including an Oscar for her role in the film Piano. Her career began as an actor on Broadway as well as Off Broadway. From the time she was a child she's been enthusiastic in the field of acting. She portrayed Helen Keller as a fifth-grade student in a school play. Her hearing loss was in one ear due to mumps but did not have this limitation deter her desire to be an actress. In college she studied theatre and later moved to New York City in pursuit of her goals. Hunter had her Broadway debut following a chance encounter together with Beth Henley, a playwright. They collaborated for Broadway Crimes of the Heart. When she moved in Los Angeles, Hunter tried to get films to play. The role of a supporting actress was secured in Swing Shift. In the years since, she has been in a variety of shows and TV films over a career spanning more than a quarter century. Holly Hunter was awarded a Hollywood Walk of Fame Star as well as the Women in Film Lucy Award.
